Visualization of gene mapping information using Java applet

Summary

  Gene mapping data have been progressively accumulated for domestic
animals, so the writers have developed a World Wide Web system for
animal genome database and a software program named gRanch to assist
animal genome analysis. However, the World Wide Web system is 
restricted in terms of visualization, and gRanch is restricted in 
its usage due to its client-server system. In the present study, 
we have developed two Java Applets for clickable linkage map and
cytogenetic correspondence in the linkage map. Internet users can
freely access the above services using World Wide Web clients.
